Cornell's Ben Scrivens signs with Toronto

As top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, this 6'2" goalie will at least get a shot with the Marlies to prove he can compete in professional hockey. This is a great move by the Toronto organization that puts an emphasis in building from the net out. Adding to the depth in net will surely allow a young team to make mistakes without it leading to a goal against. Look for the Marlies to make the playoffs next year.

Leafs Sign Finnish Goalie Jussi Rynnas

The wait is over, Jussi Rynnas has agreed to terms with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk confirmed, reports the Dallas Morning News. ``In situations like this, you tell them about the positives of your organization and you're honest with them and you let them decide,'' Nieuwendyk said. ``He decided Toronto was best for him.''

Toronto would pencil Rynnas to the AHL Toronto Marlies so he can get adjusted to the North American style of play. This will allow Jussi two years to develop and fill in when a hole is anticapted with the Maple Leafs.

Tipping Point through the eyes of a Maple Leaf fan

I came across this interesting blog making reference to Malcom Gladwell's "The Tipping Point". It is an interesting read to say the least. It certainly does beg the question "What will it take for you to walk away?". Here is the link http://torontosportsmedia.com/toronto-maple-leafs-hockey/toronto-maple-leafs-tipping-point/7868

I believe team success is cyclical, and true fans stick with the team during all phases. I also think it is healthy to be open about the success or failure of your team.

Can the Leafs add more goaltending depth?

Brian Burke and Dave Nonis are trying to convince Finnish goaltender Jussi Rynnas to sign with the Maple Leafs reports the Toronto Sun.

The most impressive statistic for this prospect are his personal stats while playing for a 10th place team in a 14 team league.

Stats: 21-GPI, 2,37-GAA, 93,43S%, 1-SO, 10-WINS.

It is also rumoured that the Dallas Stars and other NHL teams are interested.
